How To Celebrate San Diego Pride: Events, Parties & Things To Do [2026]

by Andrew J. Stillman

The world may celebrate Pride Month in June, but San Diego saves its biggest party for July — and it’s here: San Diego Pride Week 2026 runs through Sunday, July 19, with the marquee weekend July 17–19.

This year’s theme is “Pride Shines On,” and the headliners are huge: MARINA and Krewella lead more than 100 artists across four stages at the Pride Festival in Balboa Park.

The epicenter, as always, is Hillcrest — between now and Sunday, you’ll find a sea of rainbows, block parties, and events everywhere you look. Here’s everything happening, day by day.

“Yes, we want to have the Nymphia Wind’s and the Sheila E.’s and the names that bring in a crowd who wants to celebrate,” he says. “But what I really love about San Diego’s Pride is with the festival and parade, they really prioritize diversity and representation and make sure there’s something for everyone, which you don’t see in every Pride.”

The San Diego Pride organization operates as a nonprofit and puts on a lot of the events that happen during the weekend celebration. However, there are a number of other parties and options you can choose from. That said, if you have a chance to support or attend an event from San Diego Pride themselves, you should. 100% of the proceeds that come from the festival and parade go toward year-round programming to uplift the community, which helps events like these take place.

Things to do for San Diego Pride 2026

The Epicenter of San Diego Pride is in Hillcrest and if you go there between July 11 – 19, 2026, you will find a sea of rainbows, parties, and events going on. Here are the events hosted by San Diego Pride, as well as a couple of other options and some after-dark festivities, too.

Spirit of Stonewall Rally

Friday, July 17, 2026 6–7 pm
535 Robinson Ave (across from the Brass Rail)

You may not know that the first Pride occurred in New York City to mark the first anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. If that doesn’t ring a bell, the Uprising occurred at the Stonewall Inn in 1969 when the police raided the gay establishment and sparked an outrage that changed the course of the future for the queer community forever.

On Friday, July 17, join us for the annual Spirit of Stonewall Rally at 6 PM on Robinson and 5th Avenue. San Diego held their first Rally in 1975, and it’s our time to recognize and honor the leaders who work hard to preserve our gains and reflect on our origins as we celebrate those who have helped pave the way to where we are now.

The Rally also serves as the kickoff to the Pride weekend, and Picard says it’s a “moment that really resonates. It’s a centering moment. Yes, we’re all part of Pride because we want to dance and celebrate and go crazy and have fun. But that is a moment where you’re seeing local heroes, people volunteering their time who have dedicated themselves to making a positive change in the queer community.”

San Diego Pride 5K

July 18, 2026, 8 AM
University and Richmond St. (In Hillcrest)

The Pride 5k is described as “the most fun and wacky event of the summer.” Presented by Front Runners & Walkers San Diego, it’s a great way to start your Pride celebrations with some physical activity — especially if you’re planning on living it up over the rest of the weekend.

This one comes at you bright and early, so explore at your own risk. It starts at the corner of University Avenue and Centre Street. Registration is opening soon, and you can do so here.

San Diego Pride Parade

July 18, 2026 10 AM – 3 PM

Whether you hit the 5K or not, the annual San Diego Pride Parade on Saturday the 18th is an event you won’t want to miss. It’s among the largest Pride events in the country and attracts over 250,000 people, making it the largest single-day civic event in the entire region.

San Diego Pride Parade

Anywhere along University Avenue will be a good place for you to catch the show, but know you’ll run into a crowd regardless. It begins at the Pride Flag on the corner of Normal Street and University Avenue at 10 AM and lasts until around 3 PM. The parade marches down University Avenue, turns down 6th Avenue, continues onto Balboa Drive, and ends on Laurel Street as a perfect entrance to the festival.

“Pride is embracing the most authentic and fiercest version of yourself,” says Picard. “It’s about recognizing that you’re part of a community. It’s this celebration that we’re a diverse tapestry of a community, and we want to empower people to show up as their fabulous selves.”

San Diego Pride Festival

When:
Saturday, July 18, 2026 @ 12 PM – 10 PM |
Sunday, July 19, 2026 @ 12 PM – 9 PM
Where: Balboa Park (6th & Laurel)
Tickets: From ~$45/day at sdpride.org/festival · High-school age & younger FREE · Seniors 65+ $15 at the box office

The San Diego Pride Festival is the beating heart of the weekend — and the 2026 edition is the biggest lineup I’ve seen yet: more than 100 artists, performers, and DJs across four stages, headlined by MARINA and Krewella, with G Flip, Hayla, Wreckno, Mad Tsai, and Sizzy Rocket on the bill. This year’s theme is “Pride Shines On,” and the festival delivers on it — two full days of music, drag, dancing, community resources, and queer-owned businesses filling Marston Point.

The logistics work beautifully: the parade route ends practically at the festival gates, so follow the crowd down Balboa Drive and you’ll arrive just as the party hits its stride. Local tips: don’t even try to park in Hillcrest or Balboa Park on Pride weekend — take the bus or a rideshare — and bring sunscreen, because Marston Point offers more sunshine than shade in July.

Two things people don’t always realize: kids of high-school age and younger get in free, which makes Sunday afternoon a surprisingly family-friendly festival day. And your ticket money does real work — festival proceeds fund San Diego Pride’s community programs all year long, so the party literally pays for the advocacy.

Pool Parties

No San Diego Pride weekend is complete without at least one of the famous LE Parties pool parties — massive production, headline DJs, and the best people-watching of the entire week. This year there are four, one for every vibe:

  • Fun Dip Pool Party — Friday, July 17, 1 pm. The warm-up: ease into Pride weekend with an afternoon in the water before the Stonewall Rally that evening.
  • Colossal Pool Party — Saturday, July 18, 1 pm. The big one — where the party continues after the morning parade.
  • Lez Get Wet Pool Party — Sunday, July 19, 1 pm. The women’s edition, and one of the most beloved events of the whole weekend.
  • Drag-A-Licious Pool Party Extravaganza — Sunday, July 19, 1 pm. Exactly what it sounds like: a full drag show, poolside.

All parties start at 1 pm, tickets are on each event page (all sales final), and the popular dates sell out every year — if you’re reading this during Pride week, don’t sleep on it. Check the individual event pages for venues, lineups, and ticket tiers.

Nightlife Weekend Passes

Nightlife: Weekend Passes & Pride Club Events

Hillcrest’s bars and clubs go all-out during Pride week, and the smart move for serious partygoers is a weekend pass — one wristband, no nightly ticket scramble, and you skip the worst of the lines.

Rich’s — Pride 2026: “Candyland” (Wed July 15 – Sun July 19). San Diego’s biggest gay nightclub transforms into a full candy fantasy this year, with five nights of parties: Mischief Pride with Kandy Muse (Wednesday), Papi Pride with Detox (Thursday), the parade-weekend main events Friday and Saturday, and Souleil plus Sunset Tea on Sunday. The VIP Weekend Pass covers it all — note that advance individual tickets are only sold for Papi Pride and Sunday’s parties; everything else is cover-at-the-door or pass-only, so if you want guaranteed entry Friday/Saturday, the pass is the play. Full schedule at richssandiego.com.

Urban MO’s & the MO’s Universe. The legendary Back Lot at Urban MO’s kicks off Pride with MEN @ MO’s on Thursday, July 16 (doors 6 pm), and the party doesn’t stop all weekend — check the full MO’s events calendar for the day-by-day. Their sister venues (Baja Betty’s, InsideOUT, Hillcrest Brewing) all run their own Pride programming within stumbling distance of each other.

Gossip Grill. The beloved women’s bar hosts one of the weekend’s best parties: Corday performing live Friday, July 17 (6–9 pm) flowing straight into the Queer Women’s Nightclub with DJs until 2 am. Cover is $22 before 9 pm, $25 after — arrive early, this one packs out. Full Pride week schedule at gossipgrill.com.

Local tips: nearly everything after dark is 21+, weekend passes routinely sell out before the weekend arrives, and Hillcrest parking during Pride is a myth — rideshare or walk.

Just go out and celebrate!

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter how you celebrate Pride — it only matters that you’re authentic to who you are. Pride is the annual reminder of the community queer people have and how diverse that rainbow actually is. It’s a time to recognize your similarities and differences, then put everything aside to simply honor your best self.

Most importantly, just take care of yourself. Get a can or two of Narcan just in case you or somebody else needs it. Sometimes people have a little too much fun during Pride, and it’s a good backup to have in case somebody overdoses on something. Also, know that most bars have a heavy stock of this at the ready, too.

Whether it’s your first Pride or your 50th, go out there, have fun, and make memories that will last a lifetime — all while living it up in America’s Finest City.
